Tell us a bit about yourself.
I have two beautiful children, and I enjoy a wide variety of activities. I’m passionate about music, attending concerts, gaming, and spending quality time with my family. I also enjoy exploring new hobbies and interests with my kids.
What first inspired you to pursue a career in allied health, and why do you still love it today?
My inspiration to pursue a career in allied health came from wanting to better understand my son and connect with him on a deeper level. I was eager to learn about his unique world, and in the process, I discovered a way to improve myself and better support him. It’s the ability to make a real difference in people’s lives that keeps me passionate about this field.
If someone was just starting out in allied health, what’s the best advice you’d give them?
Be yourself. Kids, especially, can see through you, and they respond to authenticity. The more genuine you are, the better you’ll be able to connect with them and make a real impact.
If you could shadow another healthcare professional for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d love to shadow Mel, who has been a huge inspiration to me. When I saw her with her son, I was deeply moved by her patience and thoughtful approach. Watching her interact with him made me rethink how I was approaching my relationship with my own son, and it motivated me to be more patient. I also admire my cousin Chris, who works with teens. His ability to guide and support them has inspired me, and I’d love to learn from him as well.
How do you stay balanced and regulate yourself?
I stay balanced by spending time doing things I love, such as listening to music, watching movies, driving my car, and hanging out with my family. These activities help me unwind and recharge.
What do you do for fun?
I love gaming, watching football, listening to music, attending concerts, and spending time with my family.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, I hope to be working alongside Mel in a counselling capacity, helping others in a meaningful way and further developing my skills in the field.
What are you currently studying or planning to study?
I’m planning to study counselling, as I’m deeply interested in helping people work through their challenges and improve their mental health and well-being.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is The Lost Boys. It’s a cheesy ‘80s classic that I love for its nostalgia and uniqueness. I’m definitely an ‘80s guy and have a soft spot for movies from that era.
How do you handle situations when a child is experiencing strong emotions and is in the red zone?
I stay calm and allow them to express their emotions while making sure everyone is safe. It's important to be patient and let the child process their feelings, while ensuring that the environment remains supportive and stable.
And just for fun – tell us a joke!
Why was the picture sent to jail? It was framed!
Why did the mushroom go to the party? Because he’s a fun-guy!
Why did the golfer get a new pair of pants? Because he got a hole in one!
